Oceanic Imaging Consultants provides training courses in surveying and survey management, as well as courses specific to OIC software use. We're more than happy to serve as host to groups of up to 10 participants (or more, on a case-by-case basis), or to work with our clients on their vessel or at a location of their convenience.

Our in-house training typically takes place over a 3-5 day period, starting with the basics of sonar and surveying, through data acquisition, processing and output, and ending with at-sea survey training on one of our survey vessels, such as the Triton.

Day 1: Classroom
Introduction to Sonar

Day 2: On the Water
Survey of Simple Objects/Seeded Field

• Survey an area seeded with small to medium sized objects with some minor geologic features.

Day 3: On the Water
Survey of Complex Objects/Geology

• Survey several complex shipwreck sites, complex geology, and manmade structures.

Day 4: On the Water
Site Specific Surveys

• Survey sites/objects/geology with a variety of sonar settings, imaging angles, sonar range scales. Learn how to map and document an object or site.

Day 5: Classroom
Introduction to Post Processing

• Complex image Interpretation
• Image Correction
• Mosaicking
• Introduction to Target Databasing
